My father, Frank N. Gillespie, served on the Redfin during WWII. He passed away in 2001. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that served with him.

I am pretty sure that my father, John F. Morgan, also served on the Redfin during WWII. He passed away in 1986 at a very young 61 years old. We lived in Norfolk, VA for most of my life. I have been trying to find out more about his Navy career, as his navy records were apparently burned in a fire in Philadedelphia. The saddest thing of it is that I worked in an assisted living facility here in California, and we had a resident whose name sounded so familiar to me. I never met him. After he died, I found out that he had been a submarine commander. It was Marshall Austin, and he was the Commander of the Redfin. How I wish I had gone and met him Good luck finding someone who served with your Dad.
