 Prosecution of U 861 (KKpt. Oesten) by two U.S. submarines in January 1945

On 15 January 1945 was U 861 (KKpt. Oesten) Soerabaja back from the base to return home to Germany. Already at the expiry of two American U-boats expected in the road between Bali and Lombock U 861 was first run by a Japanese destroyer to this road. Here was a Oesten Tieftauchversuch, but waited until night with the appearance and then drove at full speed towards the Indian Ocean. That an American U-boat followed, got U 861 but after three days. U 861 took an unusually steep South Course, as part of the crew suffered by dengue fever and visited their relief Oesten colder weather.

Unfortunately, there is no information at the dedicated U-boat website.

Only in the book "Sharks in Paradise" this incident is mentioned.

Who can name the names of two U.S. submarines?
(Maybe it acted could include one English and an American U-boat)
