 The "red" submarine

I don't remember in wicih book but I've read this story concerning a "red" submarine.
This submarine was on port to do some repairs when the japenese invaded the island. This submarine had grey minium on it to stop rust attack.
But the submarine received the order to escape and after it's first dive it started to become red due to minium and salt water.
I think the movie "Operation Petticoat" with C. Grant and T Curtis is based on this true story.
Can you tell me the name of this submarine which became red?
