 Re: Seaworthy Gato class?

I haven't seen the show, but one possibility would be footage from the Kelsey Grammer comedy Down Periscope, which used the Pampanito for some underway scenes. The boat can't move under her own power, but was rigged with an underwater cable for towing. I'm not aware of any preserved fleet boats that are still in the water and still have their propellers attached. These are normally removed to reduce corrosion of the steel hull from electrolysis.

I'm not sure on this, but I believe they may have done the same sort of towing job on Silversides for the film Below, which was essentially a haunted house flick set aboard a submarine. Pampanito is a Balao, with a minimal bridge structure; Silversides has a late-war covered wagon type Gato bridge cutdown.

Taiwan still has a pair of operational fleet boats, now used only for training, but these have had Guppy conversions and don't look that much like they did originally.
