 Missing Usernames

Since yesterday afternoon I have deleted over 14,000 registered users from our database. These should have been entirely the product of spambots registering, but it's obviously possible that some genuine users got caught in the purge.

If that happened to you, just re-register and when the email with the temporary password fails to arrive (the mailer doesn't work), send a normal email to me at the webmaster address and I'll get the password for you. Just be sure to include the username you picked so I can find the account.

To the good, the broken mailer may allow us to re-open normal posting, as it also means that spambots won't be able to specify passwords at registration and won't receive one from the system. We'll give it a few days and if no spam shows up in the unapproved message folders we'll re-open the forums to unmoderated posting by registered users.
